A list of unnamed Miri natives.
Boy creature []
The boy creature was one of the Onlies that was beginning to turn into a grup. Children entering puberty developed the fatal form of the life prolongation project. Although it prolonged this child's life, as he was entering adulthood he became insane and dangerous.
He encountered a landing party from the USS Enterprise, shortly after they arrived on Earth Two. Moments after Doctor McCoy caused a tricycle in a dilapidated street to make a small noise, the creature revealed himself, maniacally rushing at McCoy while repeatedly shouting, "Mine!" He was hauled off McCoy by Captain Kirk and Lieutenant Commander Spock, then assaulted three times by Kirk, before the creature finally gave up on his attack. He was saddened that someone had clearly broken the tricycle, and appealed for the members of the landing party to fix it. Though McCoy agreed to this, the creature was convinced they didn't actually want to help him. He then began apparently suffering some kind of seizure. Responding to Kirk saying the landing party wanted to help him, the creature frenziedly repeated the word "fibber," until he died moments later, his right hand still clutching onto one part of the tricycle. (TOS: "Miri")
The boy creature was played by Ed McCready.
In the final draft script of "Miri", this character was described thus; "A mad creature – a man, apparently very old, with weird, multi-colored blotches on his age-wrinkled skin. Yet there is something curiously young about this creature, too – the sneakers and clothes he wears, parts of the skin not yet aged and wrinkled, certain physical mannerisms […] Old as he is, or seems to be, this Creature has the incredible strength of the mad." The scripted stage directions also revealed that the "creature", prior to rushing at McCoy, had been "stalking" the landing party, that he at one point intended to kill Dr. McCoy, "quickly, violently," and that, thereafter, he intended to use the tricycle as a weapon. He was also to have died repeating the word "fix" (rather than "fibber"), which, in the stage directions, was indicated to initially be a reference to the tricycle but eventually intended to be a reference to himself. Later in the script, it was established that he used to play with Miri.
He was named Floyd (β) in the novelization of "Miri".
