A Mobile Combat Surgical Unit or Mobile Armament Starfleet Hospital was a type of field hospital used by Starfleet during the Klingon War of 2256-57.

During the war, a Mobile Combat Surgical Unit was set up on the moon of J'Gal. The commanding officer was Starfleet special forces Lieutenant Va'Al Trask, but the unit itself was under the direction of the chief medical officer Commander Buck Martinez. Commander Joseph M'Benga was also stationed with this unit, and upon her arrival, Christine Chapel took over as head nurse, and, as well, the unit was equipped with a dermal team. Those stationed at the Mobile Combat Surgical Unit resided in the adjacent Tent City.

The Mobile Combat Surgical Unit's location was equipped with a transporter pad and was protected from most target locks by scrambling sensors, but was otherwise woefully understaffed and under supplied. According to Martinez, "Whatever you need, we probably don't have it, but ask anyway. I'll run it up the flagpole and see if it quacks." He added that they also did not have an internal organ regenerator and that he kept "putting in requests, but apparently a watched pot doesn't get the oil." Due to the severe lack of proper medical equipment, many severely injured patients were loaded into the transporter buffer and suspended there until starships could arrive to take them away.

During the final Battle of J'Gal, Klingon General Dak'Rah set his sights on the Mobile Combat Surgical Unit, and managed to take out the power supply – including transporters – forcing them to run on auxiliary generators. (SNW: "Under the Cloak of War")

This descriptor was only mentioned in writing. It was referenced in M'Benga's personnel file.

This would appear to be the Starfleet equivalent of an Mobile Army Surgical Hospital or MASH unit used by the US Army.
