Mohamed A.F. Noor is a professor in the Biology Department at Duke University (formerly holding the rotating titles of Earl D. McLean Professor and department chair). He has a PhD from the University of Chicago (1996), and his specialties include evolution, genetics, and genome evolution. [1]

Professor Noor also serves as a technical science consultant for the Star Trek television franchise, and his name appears in the end-credits of Discovery Season 3. He has spoken at fan conventions, universities, and other forums about the biology behind depictions in Star Trek and other science fiction.
