Monopoly is a popular "property trading" board game produced by Parker Brothers, currently a subsidiary of Hasbro. The game's primary objective is to acquire the most money and properties, often bankrupting your opponents in the process.

Through its licensor and other companies that have licensed the rights, special "themed" versions of the game have been produced for different franchises like Star Wars and Marvel Comics. [1]

As of 2012, board game manufacturer USAopoly has produced four themed games for the Star Trek franchise:

In 1999, a Star Trek: The Next Generation Monopoly game bearing the autographs of all of TNG's principal cast members was auctioned at the Galaxy Ball, a charity event held for the Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles. The winner paid US$250.00 for the board game. The auction was presented by several cast members of Star Trek: Voyager, including Kate Mulgrew, Robert Beltran, Tim Russ, Robert Duncan McNeill, and Ethan Phillips. (citation needededit)
