Much Ado About Nothing was a play written by William Shakespeare.
Two pages from this play, from The Annotated Shakespeare, were on display in Captain Jean-Luc Picard's ready room aboard the USS Enterprise-D in 2366. There was an illustraton on one page. (TNG: "The Survivors", "The Bonding") Later, two other pages from this play were on display in the same room. There was one illustration for each page. (TNG: "The Hunted", "Deja Q", "A Matter of Perspective")
The identification of these illustrations was made by Jörg Hillebrand and Bernd Schneider for Ex Astris Scientia. One of the illustrations was a photograph of Alan Howard, who played Benedick, in a Royal Shakespeare Company production. [1] The relationship between Benedick and Beatrice influenced the portrayal of that between Martok and Sirella in DS9: "You Are Cordially Invited". (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion, p. 504)
The Star Trek: Lower Decks episode LD: "Much Ado About Boimler" is a reference to this play.
