A musician was an individual who composed, conducted or performed music. The term also described those who played musical instruments either professionally or as an amateur. (TOS: "The Cage", "Wolf in the Fold"; DS9: "Facets"

The database aboard the USS Voyager contained the works of thousands of musicians and composers. (VOY: "Virtuoso")

At the arrival of the Excalbian recreation of Abraham Lincoln aboard the USS Enterprise, a recording of band honors played marking his arrival. Upon hearing the music, "Lincoln" inquired "Strange. Where are the musicians?" Kirk explained that it was "taped music," because "a starship on active duty never carries an honor detachment." (TOS: "The Savage Curtain")

Data's musical abilities were described, according to his fellow musicians aboard the USS Enterprise-D, to be "technically proficient" by they noted that he "lack[ed] soul." (TNG: "The Ensigns of Command")

In 2377, Tom Paris remarked that he had hoped his and B'Elanna Torres' daughter would grow up to be an artist or a musician, but now it looked like she would be the Klingon species' savior. (VOY: "Prophecy")
