The USS Constitution (NCC-1700) was the prototype of the Constitution-class of Federation starship in the 23rd century, launched in 2245. (TOS: "Space Seed")
In 2267, the Constitution was listed in a computer readout of vessels undergoing repair. Commodore Stone referred to this data when the USS Enterprise arrived at Starbase 11 following an encounter with an ion storm. (TOS: "Court Martial")
The USS Constitution is usually depicted in most official diagrams of the Constitution-class. These files are often viewed in many Federation databases. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock; TNG: "The Naked Now", "Datalore")

Background
The registry NCC-1700, displayed on Commodore Stone's chart.
Although not mentioned specifically by name, the Constitutions registry, "NCC-1700", was clearly visible on the Starbase 11's mission status chart. Numerous other computer readouts and okudagrams, some depicting images from the Star Fleet Technical Manual by Franz Joseph, have associated the registry "NCC-1700" with a ship labeled "USS Constitution". For purposes of the article, though, the association of the name with the registry comes from the Star Trek Encyclopedia.
