NCC-502 was the registry number for a Federation Antares-type freighter that was in service with Starfleet during the mid-23rd century. This ship was fully automated and carried no crew. Sometime prior to 2280 it suffered a catastrophic failure after suffering damage to its hull, resulting in the spillage of cargo, said to be "crates [..] brimming with unique Starfleet technology."
In 2380, this ship's cargo was the subject of a dispute between the USS Cerritos and a Drookmani ship that had attempted to salvage the cargo. When the dispute went hot, the Drookmani, using a tractor beam, propelled the wreck of these ship into the Cerritos. (LD: "Terminal Provocations")
