The Section 31 ship was a Federation starship assigned to the intelligence division Section 31 in the 2250s. This ship's commanding officer was Leland.

The ship was slightly smaller than a Crossfield-class starship. Having a darker hull color than other Federation vessels, it was equipped with folding nacelle pylons. An interior feature unique to this ship was its two-story bridge. An exterior feature unique to this ship was its ability of camouflaging itself as another body, be it a ship or an asteroid.

In 2257, this ship was operating covertly in Klingon space. After insuring the continued rule of L'Rell as the Chancellor of the Klingon High Council, the ship picked up Ash Tyler and the albino child of Tyler and L'Rell. The child was later delivered to the monastery on the planet Boreth. (DIS: "Point of Light")

Later that year, this ship assisted the USS Discovery from slipping into and being destroyed by the mycelial network. Afterwards, an agreement was reached between Captain Christopher Pike of the Discovery and Leland on this ship, wherein they agreed to cooperate on the search for Lieutenant Spock and to solve the mystery of the red signals. (DIS: "Saints of Imperfection")
