Background information Edit
The authors of the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 92) expressed their hope that the NX-class starship would continue a tradition of being named after the space shuttle orbiters. Going by this logic, the NX-04 would have been named "Discovery".
The Pocket ENT novels Kobayashi Maru and Beneath the Raptor's Wing depicted the manufacture of this ship, the Discovery. According to those non-canon works, the vessel was launched in August 2155, alongside Challenger NX-03, and was destroyed that same year, above Berengaria VII, by the Romulans.
According to Star Trek: Federation - The First 150 Years, the NX-04 was named the Constellation and was launched in 2156, shortly before the beginning of the Earth-Romulan War. The Constellation missed the Battle of Cheron because the ship was still being repaired after successfully defending Starbase 2.
