Nandy McClean (born 18 April 1982; age 42) is an actress, singer, dancer, and choreographer who appeared alongside her twin sister Maya as a Coppelius android in the Star Trek: Picard first season episodes "Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 1" and "Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 2" She received no credit for this appearance.
Born in Sydney, Australia, and grown up in the small town of Mullumbimby, Nandy and her twin sister started performing in their early teens. They studied at the Lismore Conservatory of Performing Arts, Brent Street School of Performing Arts, Edge Dance Studios, and Lulu Washington Dance Theatre.
In 2001, the twins appeared in the film Moulin Rouge! (filmed in Sydney). In 2003, they worked as dancers on board a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. The following year, they both auditioned for the talent show Australian Idol. Maya made the cut, but decided to drop out and pursue a career with her sister instead. They accepted a job in the Sydney production of The Lion King, then moved to Los Angeles in 2005. [1]
Nandy and Maya gained fame as background dancers for Prince. Handpicked by Prince and known as "The Twinz", they supported the musician on his tours worldwide from 2006 until his death in 2016. [2] They also worked as background dancers for Rihanna, and appeared in several commercials and music videos.
The twins also worked together as choreographers on several events and projects. They formed their own production company, Silver Century, through which they directed, produced and wrote music videos and a short film, The Lamp (2016). They also perform together as lead singers in their band Heroine December. They released their EP Balloon in 2014.
