Naomi D. Pollack (born 17 May 1930; age 93), aka Naomi Newman, is an actress who appeared on Star Trek: The Original Series in two third season episodes. She first appeared as a Native American woman in the episode "The Paradise Syndrome". She later played Rahda in the episode "That Which Survives".
She filmed her scenes for "The Paradise Syndrome" on Tuesday 18 June 1968 at Desilu Stage 10, and her scenes for "That Which Survives" on Thursday 26 September 1968 and Friday 27 September 1968 at Stage 9.
Newman first gained fame as an opera singer before becoming an actress. She was the second wife (and took the surname) of painter Reginald Pollack, who was mentioned in-universe in "Requiem for Methuselah".
She is the co-founder of San Francisco's award-winning A Traveling Jewish Theatre. Through her work as a playwright, director, and performer she has helped bring her company international recognition for its artistic excellence. She still lives and works in the Bay Area.
On television, she also starred as Mara in the ABC Saturday morning television series Korg: 70,000 B.C., which aired from September 1974 through August 1975. This series, which depicted the struggle for survival of a typical Neanderthal family, was produced by Fred Freiberger. [1] [2]
