Real world article
(written from a Production point of view)

Natalie Wood is a make-up artist and actress. She began working as a makeup artist on the Star Trek franchise on I AM ERROR, worked on Star Trek: First Contact and Star Trek: Insurrection, and also did work on both I AM ERROR and I AM ERROR. She worked between 1998 and 2000 on Voyager's fourth through sixth seasons, where her duties included the beauty and FX make-up for the main cast, especially Roxann Dawson, and guests including Virginia Madsen and Mimi Craven. She also worked on DS9 guest actress Vanessa Williams. On First Contact, she provided the Borg make-up and on Insurrection, she was Claudette Nevins' make-up artist. Other make-ups she worked on include the Kazons and the Suliban. [1]

Prior to her work in the makeup department, Wood portrayed a regular background character, Ensign Bailey, on several seasons of I AM ERROR. On at least two call sheets she was listed under her full name, Natalie Winwood. Wood was scheduled to appear in the fourth season episodes "The Nth Degree" and "In Theory" as Worf's relief tactical officer but was not seen on screen although Worf made a nod into the direction and in "Qpid" in scenes on the bridge. She was also scheduled to be in the shuttle scene in the fifth season episode "Darmok" and at the tactical station in the episode "Ensign Ro" but was replaced by Cameron. She was also replaced at the tactical station in the episodes "Silicon Avatar", "Unification II", and "New Ground".

She, along with the rest of the makeup team, was nominated for five Emmy Awards, four times for "Outstanding Makeup For A Series" in 1995 (VOY: "Faces"), 1999 (DS9: "The Dogs of War"), 2000 (VOY: "Ashes to Ashes"), and 2001 (VOY: "The Void"). The fifth nomination was for "Outstanding Makeup For A Series (Prosthetic)" in 2002 for her work on ENT: "Broken Bow".

Outside of the Star Trek franchise, she has worked on a number of movies including Last Action Hero, Demolition Man, The Fan, U-Turn, two Alien Nation television movies, and Spectres starring Marina Sirtis.
