Nick Tate (born 18 June 1942; age 78) is an actor who played Captain Dirgo in the Star Trek: The Next Generation fourth season episode "Final Mission". Eight years later he appeared as Liam Bilby in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine sixth season episode "Honor Among Thieves". Tate had lost out to actor Charles Hallahan for the latter role, but accepted it after Hallahan died suddenly of a heart attack before filming began.

He was born as Nicholas John Tate in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and started his acting career in the 1960s. In 1976 he received an Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role in the drama The Devil's Playground.

He is best known for his role as Astronaut Alan Carter on the 1970s series Space: 1999, alongside Martin Landau, an early candidate for the role of Spock, and Clifton Jones. Fred Freiberger worked as producer during the second season of the show, while Art Wallace was among the writers. Recently, he has been one of the leading voice-over artists for movie trailers.

Tate has also guest-starred in Farscape, The X-Files (with Brian Thompson and George Murdock), and Lost (with Terry O'Quinn and Daniel Dae Kim).

More recently, he had guest roles in episodes of The Pacific (2010, with Conor O'Farrell), City Homicide (2011), and SLiDE (2011) and portrayed Commander B in the action thriller Killer Elite (2011).
