This marks one of the few instances of product placement being used in a Star Trek production.
Shoes worn during the Tsunkatse fights in "Tsunkatse" also featured the Nike, Inc. emblem, though presumably they were not intended to represent actual Nike-brand shoes imported from Earth. Several of these shoes were later sold off on the It's A Wrap! sale and auction on eBay. [1](X) [2](X) [3](X)
According to Ron D. Moore, Nike survived into the 24th century, when they were trying to sell new clothing to the Romulans with limited success. (AOL chat, 1997)
