The Niners were an amateur baseball team, formed by Captain Benjamin Sisko to meet the challenge made by the Vulcan Logicians in 2375. The team consisted of Sisko, his son Jake, his girlfriend Kasidy Yates, and his friends Kira Nerys, Worf, Miles O'Brien, Ezri Dax, Julian Bashir, Leeta, Rom, Quark and Nog. With only the Siskos and Yates ever having played baseball before, the team was easily defeated, but managed to score a single run from a barely intentional bunt from Rom. During the game, both Sisko and Captain Solok were ejected from the game by the umpire, Odo. (DS9: "Take Me Out to the Holosuite")
