Noble Isle was an inhabited class M planet located in the Romulan Neutral Zone. It had at least one moon and was surrounded by a debris field. The planet had a turbulent atmosphere with perennial ion storms and dangerous lightning, which interfered with spacecraft navigation and transporters. This seclusion made it a haven for unregulated and unsanctioned scientific research. The only way to or from the surface was via a space elevator, which functioned as the planet's starport.
In 2384, Thadiun Okona was hired by Doctor Jago to deliver gelatinous putrescine to her lab on Noble Isle. En route, Okona met and joined the crew of the USS Protostar, whom he later guided to the planet so they could effect repairs on the ship's protostar drive. During their stay, a Romulan Tal Shiar team led by Commander Kaseth attempted to seize the Protostar, but were unsuccessful. (PRO: "Masquerade")
Noble Isle is the name of the titular location in H. G. Wells' novel The Island of Dr. Moreau, which is also about a scientist who performs experiments frowned upon by society in an attempt to augment other species.
