Ockmenic 9 was the inhabited ninth planet in its star system, and the homeworld of the Ockmenians. It was a Brigadoon-type planet that existed in another dimension for the most part and phased into normal space-time for only two hours per year. It did not have any moons. (LD: "The Stars At Night")

Planetary data for Ockmenic 9

Ockmenic 9 had a radius of 5,834 kilometers and an equatorial circumference of 43,933 kilometers. It had a mass of 6.94334e23×1023 kilograms, with a density of 5.522 grams per cubic centimeter, yielding a surface gravity of 980 centimeters per second squared and an escape velocity of 11.18 kilometers per second. Its orbit had an eccentricity of 0.01245233 and an inclination of 0.00023 degrees, with sidereal rotation and orbital periods of 0.933232 days and 1.02322 years, respectively. The mean surface temperature was 291 Kelvin. (LD: "The Stars At Night")

History[]

As of the late 24th century, the Ockmenians were aware of the Federation and had an agreement with Starfleet to receive supplies during the brief window that Ockmenic 9 existed in normal space. In 2381, Captain Carol Freeman convinced Starfleet Command to make this task the third leg of a "second contact race" between her ship, the USS Cerritos, and the newly introduced automated starship USS Aledo, so as to prove the continued viability of the California-class. The Aledo delivered its supplies to Ockmenic 9 as scheduled, whereas the Cerritos, due to a delay at LT-358, arrived too late to do the same before the planet phased into its other dimension, thereby losing the race.
