"I didn't ask for lightning bolts. I joined Starfleet so I could fix and build stuff. I hid my powers so people wouldn't be scared of me, like a Q or something."
Olly, 2382 ("Of Gods and Angles")

Ensign Olly was a demigod who lived in the late 24th century. She was the granddaughter of Zeus, one of the Greek gods of Pollux IV. She had inherited from him the psychokinetic power to absorb energy and use it to form lightning bolt constructs, which she concealed out of a desire to appear "normal" and not frighten her peers, resulting in a poorly developed power, over which she had little control.

Olly joined Starfleet in the hopes of becoming an engineer. However, despite her aptitude she was removed from six different ships for causing minor accidents, which unbeknownst to her superiors were the fault of her powers. Feeling unsupported, she became reckless and irresponsible in her efforts to prove herself, leading to further tension with her commanding officers.

In 2382, Olly was transferred from the USS Reseda to the USS Cerritos for causing an electrical fire. Her powers and attitude continued to cause problems, including incidents involving an anti-grav sled, a turbolift, a replicator, and a phaser. Captain Carol Freeman found her presence disruptive and, with the Cerritos hosting delicate peace negotiations between the Orbs and Cubes, prepared to dismiss her from service. Lieutenant jg Beckett Mariner, sensing a kindred spirit, convinced Freeman to let her take Olly under her wing instead.

Olly and Mariner were assigned to chaperone Quadralon, the son of Cube leader Sexagus. Olly arrived at Quadralon's quarters early, only to find him missing and electrical damage to his vidscreen. Panicked that she would be blamed due to her powers, Olly hid the vidscreen in her locker and aggressively sought evidence that the Orbs had taken Quadralon. Mariner became suspicious when Olly kept focusing on the vidscreen and Quadralon equally, especially after she mistakenly described the vidscreen as "melted". Tensions escalated until a shape war erupted between the Orbs and Cubes; upon discovering the vidscreen and learning the truth, Mariner convinced Olly to remedy her actions.

Under Mariner's instructions, Olly tried to stop the Orbs and Cubes by draining their energy; however, before she could drain enough energy to debilitate them, she became overwhelmed and launched a multitude of lightning bolts, one of which became lodged in Brad Boimler's anus. As the shape war moved outside the Cerritos, Olly offered another option: to configure the ship's tractor beams to function on photonics by redirecting an electromagnetic field into the nacelles. This would allow the Cerritos to depower both sides while simultaneously recharging its shields. Olly's solution successfully stopped the fighting, in time for Quadralon to reappear alongside his Orb lover Radiara and child SquAaron, decisively ending the conflict.

In the aftermath, Freeman allowed Olly to stay aboard and join the engineering department, though not before spending a night in the brig for lying and hiding evidence. (LD: "Of Gods and Angles")

Later that year, Olly took part in making the shield upgrades so that the Cerritos could pass through the Schrödinger possibility field, warning Freeman that while the shields would protect the crew, the ship itself would likely be affected by the changes. Olly subsequently used her powers to strike Relga's Bird-of-Prey with a massive lightning bolt, draining its shields. (LD: "The New Next Generation")
