- The copyright inside lists the publication date as December 1996, but the cover lists it as April 1997.
- This was a one-shot special.
- The story references the past Star Trek stories, TNG: "The Neutral Zone".
- Some pre-production sketches from Star Trek: First Contact were included, as was an interview with Jonathan Frakes.
- The entire story features Romulans as the main characters, and no regular Star Trek characters appear.
- It was reprinted in the "Best of the Borg" collection.
