For the unrelated spacecraft encountered by USS Voyager, please see Orbital 1.

Orbital 6 was an United Earth inspection pod that was in service with Starfleet in the mid-22nd century. It was attached to Shipyard Ops of the Orbital Drydock Facility.

In 2151, Orbital 6 was used by Charles Tucker and Jonathan Archer to inspect the NX-class starship Enterprise before its launch. Tucker, after being distracted, accidentally scratched the paint on the Enterprise's hull with Orbital 6. (ENT: "Broken Bow")

Inspection pod sketch

A concept sketch of Orbital 6 by John Eaves

Orbital 6 was originally to have been numbered "05", in homage to travel pod 05 from Star Trek: The Motion Picture, but its number in dialogue was ultimately changed to 6. The craft may have still been numbered 05 on the hull though along with the Shipyard Ops and Orbital Drydock Facility signage. [1](X)
