Oros was a scientist in captivity by the Emerald Chain in the late 32nd century. He was imprisoned in a work camp on an unknown planet, in a cell alongside Ruon Tarka. Oros eventually revealed to Tarka that he was devising a method of escaping the Emerald Chain by building a special transporter capable of transporting him to an alternate universe. More specifically, a place called Kayalise, a paradise from Oros' people's legends and mythology, which he believed to have located somewhere in the multiverse.
After quite some time, the two were able to build a prototype transporter. They also grew close to one another. However, the facility they were being held in did not have sufficient power for the transporter to function. Emerald Chain enforcers tracked the power drain to Oros' quarters and threatened him. Tarka shot the enforcer with his own weapon, and removed Oros' slave controller, as well as his own. Tarka escaped the Emerald Chain facility, whilst Oros, too injured to join Tarka, promised to finish the transporter.
Tarka hid in a nearby cave for approximately a week, at which point he witnessed a major power surge from the Emerald Chain facility, along with ships leaving. Upon investigating, Tarka found the facility completely abandoned. A symbol representing Kayalise was carved into the wall of his and Oros' old quarters, leading him to believe Oros made it out alive, having successfully completed the interdimensional transporter.
