An outfielder was a baseball player who played in left field, center field, or right field.
In 1953, the Daily News reported that the Brooklyn Dodgers won a game against the New York Giants. Duke Snider played for the Dodgers that year as an outfielder. (DS9: "Far Beyond the Stars")
