Star Trek: Prodigy - Season One is a region B only Blu-ray release featuring the entirety of the first season of Star Trek: Prodigy, contrary to the preceding region A releases where the season was divided into two parts, each part issued on their own separate home video disc format.
As with the two region A Blu-ray releases, the set's initial run also included limited-edition art carts, eight in total in this case, featuring the main characters of the show.
While in a very few cases still being marketed as region-restricted, the releases are in actuality region-free as this has become commonplace for the Blu-ray format – also explaining the unified inclusion of subtitles and dubbed language audio tracks for all regions. It also explains why the set was not slated for a separate release in a wider array of region B/C territories; customers in those territories were equally well served with UK, German or even US imports.

Background information[]
- This home video release saw an unwelcome return of the "market discrimination" phenomenon. North American region A customers were treated to an early release eight months earlier in January 2023. But that release however, only contained the first half of the season, and fans had to await the rest-of-the-world release of the entirety of Prodigy's first season on the home video disc formats, before they could get their hands on the second half of the series on disc, which was released one day after the region B UK release.
- By way of consolation for the North American region A customers, it was in January announced that digital purchase of the entire first season was then made possible through the usual array of digital vendors, such as Prime Video, the iTunes Store and others. [1] Prior to January, only the first ten episodes of Season 1 had been digitally available, and while no official rationale was ever provided by the Star Trek franchise, it was precisely this circumstance that was the most likely reason for the franchise to choose the outdated method of market discrimination for the region A home video format releases. Whatever the reasons were however, fact remained that region A fans had to pay almost twice as much for their home video disc formats than their British and German region B counterparts had to.
