Paramount Stage 31 is located on the Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood, California. It was previously known as Desilu Studios Stage 9 until 1967, when Desliu merged with Paramount.

Stage 31 was used in the production of Star Trek: The Original Series between 1966 and 1969, housing all of the sets that represented the interior of the Enterprise.

Unlike future Star Trek TV series, the original Enterprise sets stood on a single stage, a complex of corridors connected to engineering, the transporter room, sickbay, and various generic chambers with the main bridge set standing alone near the corner of the stage. The bridge was given a wide berth so there would be adequate room to slide out the pie-shaped wedges that made up its bulkheads.

The sets stood mostly unchanged throughout the Original Series' production, with minor modifications to the corridors and the addition of engineering and the brig. Occasionally, when only the bridge set was needed for the actual episode, the Enterprise sets were temporarily struck, to make room for additional swing sets besides those built on Stage 10.

The living quarters set was often redressed to represent the ship's briefing room and rec room. (citation needededit)

In 1996, the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine production staff planned to place the recreated USS Enterprise sets for "Trials and Tribble-ations" on Stage 31 as a tribute to Star Trek. It was later discovered that Stage 31 would not be available. (The Magic of Tribbles: The Making of Trials and Tribble-ations)
