Paul Guilfoyle (born 28 April 1949; age 76) is an actor who portrayed Carl in the Star Trek: Discovery third season episodes "Terra Firma, Part 1" and "Terra Firma, Part 2".
He is best known for playing Captain Jim Brass in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation between 2000 and 2014. His co-stars on the show included Wallace Langham and Liz Vassey.
Guilfoyle's early credits include a role in Three Men and a Baby (1986, directed by Leonard Nimoy), and guest roles on Spenser: For Hire and its spin-off A Man Called Hawk, starring Avery Brooks. He also appeared in films like Howard the Duck (1986, starring Lea Thompson, with Paul Comi, James Lashly, David Paymer, John Fleck, and the voice of Richard Kiley), Beverly Hills Cop II (1987, starring Eddie Murphy, with Ronny Cox, Dean Stockwell, Stephen Liska, and Darryl Henriques), Wall Street (1987, starring Martin Sheen, with Lauren Tom, Saul Rubinek, Chris Nelson Norris and Jeff Rector), Cadillac Man (1990, starring Robin Williams, with Lori Petty and Lauren Tom) and Amistad (1997, with David Paymer, Harry Groener, Jake Weber, John Escobar, Victor Rivers and Castulo Guerra).
