Kent appeared in both versions of the made-for-television biopic Helter Skelter: the 1976 original, co-starring fellow Star Trek alumni Alan Oppenheimer, Roy Jenson, Marc Alaimo, Phillip Richard Allen, David Clennon, Bruce French, Skip Homeier, and Robert Ito, and the 2004 remake, co-starring Robert Costanzo, Keith Szarabajka, and Robert Pine. He played different characters in each.
His other TV movie credits include Leonard Nimoy, Vic Tayback, Kenneth Tobey, James B. Sikking, and Paul Sorenson), Pray for the Wildcats (1974, with William Shatner), (1975, with William Windom, George Murdock, John Crawford, Paul Fix, Stewart Moss, and Paul Lambert), (1987, with Louise Fletcher, David Ogden Stiers, and John McLiam), and A Killer Among Us (1990, with Dwight Schultz and Richard Riehle). Kent also appeared in the pilot movie for William Shatner's series T.J. Hooker in 1982, co-starring Richard Herd. He also appeared in several regular episodes of the series, which also starred Herd and DS9 actor James Darren.(1973, with
Kent also made guest appearances on The Mod Squad (with Clarence Williams III and Tige Andrews), Three's Company, Barney Miller (with Lee Meriwether), Falcon Crest, Night Court (with John Larroquette), and Frasier (with Kelsey Grammer). He also appeared in such films as (1976), (1985), and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987, with Craig Wasson, Nan Martin, and Clayton Landey) as well as franchise lead Heather Langenkamp returning as Nancy Thompson. Kent passed away on 7 October 2011, after a lengthy battle with multiple myeloma. He was 80 years old.
