He and several others volunteered for a salvage operation on board Empok Nor. When he prepared the wish list of items to obtain, he included Cardassian insignia and emblems in the "Would Be Nice" category, hoping to add to his collection.
According to the script, Pechetti was pronounced as "peh-CHE-tee". The name "Pechetti" is not listed anywhere in Italy so the original was probably "Pecetti." He was described as "another engineer, human, in his mid-thirties." He wore no rank insignia, and was described simply as a "crewman" in the script.
For the scene where Pechetti's body is hung from the Promenade, Hodges and the other actors were placed in flying suits similar to parachute harnesses and suspended about a foot above the set. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion, p. 462)
