Perjury was the crime of deliberately giving false information when under oath. This could occur in a document or in spoken testimony at a legal proceeding. A person who perjuried was named as a perjurer.

Commodore Stone accused James T. Kirk of committing perjury in 2267 regarding a sworn deposition submitted to him, which contained Kirk's account of the events leading to the death of Benjamin Finney. That deposition conflicted with computer records of the incident, leading to Stone's accusation. It was later found that the computer had been altered by Finney in an attempt to frame Kirk for his death. (TOS: "Court Martial")
