The Pike City Pioneers was a baseball team based in Pike City on Cestus III. Kasidy Yates' brother played for the team. The Pike City Pioneers decided to use wood bats instead of polyduranide, but not to use the designated hitter rule. In 2371, they played a game against the Cestus Comets. (DS9: "Family Business")
In 2372, Yates invited Benjamin Sisko to come to Cestus III to see a game, and Sisko admitted that seeing a live baseball game might be worth the long trip. She brought him a present, a baseball cap of the team. (DS9: "The Way of the Warrior") Sisko wore the cap to a baseball game he attended in the holosuite with Kira Nerys. (DS9: "Starship Down")
The logo of the Pioneers featured a covered wagon.
Other teams in the baseball league established in novels include the Kirkville Captains and the Palombo Sehlats.
