Pineapple

A pineapple

The pineapple (Ananas comosus) was an edible fruit native to the planet Earth.

Pineapple was Malcolm Reed's favorite food, despite the fact that he was allergic to the bromelain it contained. From the mid-2140s, he had been taking regular injections to overcome the allergy. Phlox revealed this fact to Ensign Hoshi Sato in 2151, leading her to prepare a pineapple cake for Reed's birthday. (ENT: "Silent Enemy")

In 2270, pineapples were among the fruit on a platter on the dining table on the USS Enterprise. (TAS: "The Practical Joker")

The crew assigned to the day shift on Deep Space 9 enjoyed a short stack of pancakes, dripping with butter, with a side of sausage and pineapple for breakfast. In 2373, Rom ordered this, earning disdain from his brother, Quark. (DS9: "The Assignment")

Harry Kim wore a Hawaiian shirt with a pineapple motif to a Hawaiian luau aboard the USS Voyager in 2373. (VOY: "Alter Ego")

Captain Carol Freeman kept a pineapple on an anti-gravity stand in her ready room on the USS Cerritos, which her daughter, Ensign Beckett Mariner, called one of her "captain's trinkets". (LD: "Much Ado About Boimler")

In 2380, when Captain Freeman questioned Dr. Migleemo about what Mariner had told him during their session, Migleemo told her she was "being a pineapple", at which point Freeman groaned in exasperation, and told him to "stop referencing foods". (LD: "Crisis Point")

At the end of the DVD and Blu-ray commentary track for 2009's Star Trek producer Damon Lindelof states that the film's sequel will be called "Pineapple." On the day of the discs' release, Nov. 17, 2009, an image of a pineapple was posted as a clue in the "Lost" alternate reality game at damoncarltonandapolarbear.com. Lindelof was the co-creator, writer and producer of "Lost."
