A planetary surface scan in 2151

A planetary scan or planetary surface scan was a scan report showing a structure or landscape or the environment on a planet.

In 2151, Trip Tucker performed a planetary surface scan to get a proper picture of the tunnel and cavern network beneath the surface of Terra Nova. He identified 12.6 kilometers worth of tunnels and fifty-two biosigns. Later, another planetary surface scan informed Sub-commander T'Pol where the impact crater of an asteroid, who crashed in 2083 onto the surface, was. (ENT: "Terra Nova")

The crew performed a planetary scan to determine where in the planetary ring of a class D planet the richest deposit of the 247th element known to the Federation was existing. (VOY: "Emanations")

In 2372, the USS Voyager crew performed a planetary scan of the surface of the planet on which Kathryn Janeway, Tuvok, and B'Elanna Torres were missing. The scan depicted the structures in the city and also the prison of the Mokra Order. (VOY: "Resistance")
