Polk was a male Human who served as a Starfleet operations division officer during the mid-23rd century.

During the Klingon War of 2256-57, he served as the pilot of the Geronimo. At one point during the war, he was responsible for dropping Nurse Christine Chapel to the Mobile Combat Surgical Unit on the moon of J'Gal.

As he approached the moon, he was in contact with ground control, who informed him that he was clear for descent. Polk opted to take the shuttle down on the east side and approach from the south. En route, he explained to Chapel that "it's too hairy down there" and that they would not be approaching a landing pad, but rather that she was going to be dropped to a transporter pad. As they continued on approach, he quickly debriefed Chapel, explaining to her that "FOB's a mile from the front, so don't wander out", before finally wishing her "good luck down there," and sending her on her way. (SNW: "Under the Cloak of War")

Polk was played by Ryan Allen.

This character was only named in the source's end credits. As well, his name also appeared in the episode's closed captioning.
