Principal was the position given to the head of a school or other educational facility on Earth.

In 2152, when Lieutenant Malcolm Reed remained standing while having breakfast with Captain Jonathan Archer, Archer told him that it wasn't a visit to the principal's office and advised him to be at ease. (ENT: "Minefield")

When summoned to the Xindi Council chambers in 2154, Jonathan Archer compared the experience to being called to the principal's office. After Hoshi Sato revealed that she was never once called there, Archer recalled having gotten in trouble when he tried to ask Katy Bentley to go to a party with him by passing a note in class. (ENT: "The Council")

In 2347, the principal of a seven-year-old Worf's school implored Helena Rozhenko and her husband Sergey to "please tell me he's an only child," after the Klingon boy gave five teenagers nosebleeds. (TNG: "Family")

In the final draft script of the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "Miri", a boy Only pretended to be a principal in a principal's office on Earth Two. A sign in a corridor immediately outside the room was to have been labeled "PRINCIPAL." In the final version of the episode, however, a classroom is instead used as the setting, in which the boy role-plays he is a teacher rather than a principal.
