A pyramid is a three-sided geometric shape whose outer surface is comprised of three triangles, converged at a single peak, with a triangular base.

According to Odo, a pyramid was "one of the most mysterious shapes in nature," while demonstrating a pyramid-shaped glass container to a sick infant Changeling. Later, Odo transferred the Changeling back and forth from the pyramid-shaped to cube-shaped glass containers, and at one point said, "Now Mister Pyramid, here comes Mister Cube." Pyramid shaped structures were built by numerous Human Earth cultures as monuments, burial sites, and places of worship. The series of monumental burial chambers built for Egyptian kings of Earth, are among the oldest known, dating from the 27th century BC. The Great Pyramid of Giza was the largest of the pyramids, and one of Earth's most notable landmarks. (ENT: "Cold Front"; TOS: "The City on the Edge of Forever")

After Archer restored a damaged timeline, the Pyramids could be seen in the timestream as the timeline realigned itself. (ENT: "Storm Front, Part II")

In The Star Trek Saga: From One Generation To The Next, Gene Roddenberry ruled out any possible storylines regarding alien influence in the construction of Earth's pyramids. He stated, "No, ancient astronauts did not build the pyramids. Human beings built them, because they're clever and they work hard. And Star Trek is about those things."

They were part of the city designed by Kukulkan. All of the ancient Human cultures influenced by Kukulkan built some type of pyramid, although none of them did it in the perfect way that he had planned. (TAS: "How Sharper Than a Serpent's Tooth")

Another prominent pyramid-shaped structure on Earth was the Transamerica Pyramid. (VOY: "Non Sequitur", et al.)

Although never mentioned in any of the series or movies, it was clearly shown as part of the San Francisco skyline in several episodes.

There was at some point a painting of a landscape with a steep pyramid in the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) officers' lounge. (TOS: "Is There in Truth No Beauty?"

Pyramid-shaped structures were also found on Ventax II, and in the city of Urquat on the Loque'eque homeworld. (TNG: "Devil's Due"; ENT: "Extinction")

The dice used by the Wadi for their game chula were pyramidic. (DS9: "Move Along Home")
