Rakhar was an inhabited M class planet in its star system. This system was located in the Rakhari sector, in the Gamma Quadrant. This was the homeworld of the Rakhari species. Nehelik Province was an area in the southern hemisphere of the planet.
In the 2360s, a Rakhari named Croden spoke out against the repressive policies of the government. For doing so, Croden's entire family was put to death, although he was able to save and hide his daughter Yareth.
The planet was first visited by the United Federation of Planets by Benjamin Sisko and Jadzia Dax aboard the USS Rio Grande in 2369, when they had a brief conversation with Exarch Hadran about Croden's extradition. (DS9: "Vortex")
In 3189, the location of Rakhar was denoted on a holographic star chart of the galaxy at Federation Headquarters. (DIS: "Die Trying")
