For the original Human, please see Raymond Boone.

Raymond Boone was the alias of a Cardassian agent who assumed the appearance of the Human Starfleet officer Raymond Boone, the real Boone having died in a detention center in 2362.

In 2362, this surgically-altered Cardassian infilitrated Starfleet. Shortly after he was discharged from Starfleet for failing several crew performance reviews. "Boone" settled with his family on Volan III and operated a ladarium mining sluice. "Boone"'s wife felt something was different about him, but believed it was due to the torture the Cardassians subjected him to. He left his wife the same year.

In 2370, "Boone" was tasked as part of a large operation that was designed at discrediting the Federation and to make it appear that they were sanctioning the Maquis. That same year, the Cardassian traveled to Deep Space 9 where he met O'Brien and recorded his voice. He used O'Brien's recorded voice to break into a weapons locker and thus framed O'Brien for the crime. After analyzing the logs, Commander Sisko traveled to Volan III and apprehended "Boone". It was thought that "Boone" was a Maquis conspirator, until an unidentified Maquis contacted Julian Bashir claiming that "Boone" was not one of them, and that they had nothing to do with the theft.

After examination it was discovered that his first molar had been extracted (as all Cardassian children at 10 years old were required to do) and that his DNA was Cardassian. Sisko then brought him to O'Brien's trial on Cardassia Prime. As soon as the Chief Archon, Makbar, saw "Boone" she ended the trial and O'Brien was turned over to Sisko. (DS9: "Tribunal")

Background information

Raymond Boone was played by actor John Beck.

The script for "Tribunal" described the character as, "A tall, rugged-looking fellow..." [1]

Boone's copy is the first Cardassian seen to be altered to appear as a different humanoid for the purposes of infiltration. The same occurred with Seska on Star Trek: Voyager, Iliana Ghemor in "Second Skin", and with Dukat in "The Changing Face of Evil".

Boone has a card in the Star Trek Customizable Card Game in the CCG: All Good Things [2] and CCG: Blaze of Glory [3]sets, which describes him as an engineer.
