The Relay Station 47-type was a communication relay station and starbase design in use by Starfleet during the mid-24th century.
A graphic of this design was stored in USS Defiant's library computer. (DS9: "Favor the Bold", "Sacrifice of Angels", "What You Leave Behind")
Technical details[]
Exterior design[]

Library computer graphic of this design
A typical relay station was designed exclusively to transmit and receive several thousand subspace messages on Federation and Starfleet communication channels.
As such, its exterior consisted of a small crew module, a solar panel, and a large antenna farm. The magnitude of subspace communications converging toward the station could interfere with standard bioscans. (TNG: "Aquiel")
Interior design[]
Ops[]

Operations center
The station's operations center consisted of two levels with multiple consoles and an audio monitoring system. Adjacent to ops were access points to crew quarters and a service duct. (TNG: "Aquiel")
Crew quarters[]

A portion of Aquiel's quarters
The crew quarters were small, and consisted of a bed, replicator, and a workstation. (TNG: "Aquiel")
Shuttlebay[]
The station had at least a single shuttlebay, with the capacity to garage a Type 6 shuttlecraft. (TNG: "Aquiel")
