Morn's mother's present

Morn tying a ribbon.

A ribbon was a type of flat, thin fabric or anything that resembled the form or flow of a ribbon. They were often the primary material used in making award ribbons.

The term energy ribbon, a name superficially given to the Nexus, had the approximate appearance to that of a ribbon. (Star Trek Generations)

According to Data, in 2364, the water table on Velara III existed as "a thin ribbon between the sandy surface layer and the rocks below." (TNG: "Home Soil")

During the Dominion War in 2374, Morn was able to smuggle a coded message off Deep Space 9 (detailing the Dominion's plan to bring down the minefield) to Benjamin Sisko on Starbase 375 in the ribbon of the birthday present he was taking to his mother. (DS9: "Favor the Bold")

John Eaves designed the ribbon, including the text. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion, p. 492)
