Ric (or "Rik") Estrada (26 February 19281 May 2009; age 81) was a comic book artist and writer from Havana, Cuba. He moved to New York City in the late 1940s to attend the New York Art Students League, New York University, and New School for Social Research. In 1948, a year after his arrival, he began drawing comics professionally for Hillman, Ziff-Davis, Better Publications, and EC. Over the years, he became well known for his work on war comics including Our Army At War, Star Spangled War Stories, GI Combat, Weird War Tales, and Unknown Soldier, among others. He was also known for his work on DC Comics' romance lines and Richard Dragon, Kung Fu Fighter.

In addition to all of this, he worked on the syndicated Flash Gordon newspaper strip during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. In the 1980s, he became involved in television animation working as a layout artist on various series, but most notably He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, and as a story director for Pound Puppies and Jonny Quest.

While at DC, he contributed pencil art to their adaptation of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.

Estrada died on 1 May 2009, after a long battle with cancer. [1]
