Richard "Dick" Butz is a costumer who worked as one of the key costumers on the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Butz started as production assistant on A Boy and His Dog (1975), story by Harlan Ellison. He then worked in the wardrobe department of Lipstick (1976), Logan's Run (1976, music by Jerry Goldsmith), and The Amityville Horror (1979). Further projects as costumer include Brainstorm (1983, with Louise Fletcher and music by James Horner), Scarecrow and Mrs. King (1983-1984) and The A-Team (1984-1985), and Double Agent (1987, starring Michael McKean).

In addition, Butz worked as costume designer on Child Bride of Short Creek (1981) and as costume supervisor on Stagecoach (1986) and Weekend at Bernie's (1989, costume design by Nancy Butz).
