Richard Danus (26 February 193614 April 2020; age 84) was a writer who worked on both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Ira Steven Behr recalled Danus thusly: "So then I go to a guy I don’t even know, this guy Richard Danus, who is literally a dead man walking. The first thing he says to me is, 'I’m on a ten week contract; they’re not picking up my contract; I’m gone in like two weeks. I’ve never met Rick Berman, I’ve never met Gene Roddenberry, don’t talk to me, I’m dead'." [1]

Outside Star Trek he was also known for No Place to Hide (1993, with Dey Young, Lilyan Chauvin and Kane Hodder).

The name Sunad, who appeared in Danus scripted "Transfigurations", was an inversion his surname. (Star Trek Encyclopedia, 3rd ed., p. 482)
