Richard Merrifield (18 February 193520 January 2018; age 82) [1] was the actor who played Webb in the Star Trek: The Original Series first season episode "Tomorrow is Yesterday". He filmed his scene on Monday 5 December 1966 at Desilu Stage 10.

Merrifield's first known acting appearance was on Mission: Impossible (1966; with Michael Barrier, Jack Donner, Don Marshall, Eddie Paskey, William Smithers, and Victor Tayback), following by an appearance in the unaired pilot of Mr. Terrific (1966).

Following on his appearance on Star Trek, he appeared on three episodes of Mannix (1967-1968; starring Joseph Campanella, with Brooke Bundy, Booth Colman, Ed McCready, Valora Noland and directed by Vincent McEveety; with John Anderson, Dick Dial; and, with Walter Koenig, Louise Sorel, and George Sawaya), and an episode of The Invaders (1968, starring Roy Thinnes, with Stewart Moss, Susan Oliver, and Peter Mark Richman). He then appeared in three Ross Hagen films: The Hellcats (1968; with Noble Chissell), Mark of the Gun (1969; with Ned Romero and Paul Sorensen), and Five the Hard Way (1969; with Erik Cord and Michael Pataki), before returning to television for two appearances on This Is the Life (1969-1970), four appearances on The F.B.I. (1970-1973; with Marj Dusay and Mariette Hartley; with Lou Antonio and Marj Dusay). He rounded out his career with two film appearances Sheba, Baby (1975) and The Curious Case of the Campus Corpse (1977). [2]
