Rigel II was the inhabited second planet of the Rigel system. Rigel II was located less than ninety light years away from Earth. (TOS: "Shore Leave"; ENT: "Two Days and Two Nights")
Lieutenant Commander Leonard McCoy of the Federation starship USS Enterprise once met a pair of scantily-clad women in a cabaret chorus line on Rigel II. In 2267, the two women were recreated from Dr. McCoy's imagination on the Shore Leave Planet in the Omicron Delta region. (TOS: "Shore Leave")
In "Two Days and Two Nights", the NX-class Enterprise set a milestone several months after its mission to Rigel X by becoming the first Earth ship to travel ninety light years away from the Sol system.
According to Star Trek: Star Charts (pgs. 52, 59, "United Federation of Planets I"), Rigel II, also known as Beta Rigel II, was a M-class planet. The planet was a member planet of both the United Rigel Colonies and the United Federation of Planets. Rigel IV was admitted, along with the United Rigel Colonies, to the Federation in 2202.
