Robert Badami (born 2 October 1951; age 74) is a film music editor, consultant and supervisor. He was the music editor for both Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, working with composer James Horner and score mixer Dan Wallin.
Badami previously collaborated with Horner and Wallin on Wolfen (1981). Badami went on to edit Horner's music for the films Krull (1983), Mighty Joe Young (1998, featuring Naveen Andrews, David Paymer, Robert Wisdom, Scarlett Pomers, Lawrence Pressman, Tracey Walter and cinematography by Don Peterman; script by Mark Rosenthal and Lawrence Konner), and All the King's Men (2006).
Badami and Wallin also worked together on Boulevard Nights (1979, featuring John Fiedler) and The Black Stallion (1979, starring Terri Garr), The Baltimore Bullet (1979), Terms of Endearment (1983, with art direction by Harold Michelson and set decoration by Tom Pedigo), Darkman (1990, starring Larry Drake, Aaron Lustig and Nicholas Worth), and The Insider (1999, starring Christopher Plummer, with Bruce McGill, Lynne Thigpen and Vyto Ruginis) Badami's music editing on The Insider earned him a Golden Reel Award nomination from the Motion Picture Sound Editors. He was previously nominated for his work on Armageddon (1998, co-written by J.J. Abrams).
Among Badami's many other film credits are Cat People (1982, starring Ed Begley, Jr., John Larroquette and Malcolm McDowell), Beverly Hills Cop (1984, starring Eddie Murphy, with Ronny Cox, Steven Berkoff, and Jonathan Banks), This Is Spinal Tap (1984), Top Gun (1986), Broadcast News (1987, starring Holly Hunter), Scent of a Woman, Crimson Tide (1995), Enemy of the State (1998), Remember the Titans (2000), Black Hawk Down (2001, starring Eric Bana, Jason Isaacs and Tom Hardy), the National Treasure films, and all three Pirates of the Caribbean films. He worked on many films for director Tim Burton, including Beetlejuice (1988, starring Winona Ryder), Batman (1989), Darkman, Edward Scissorhands (1990, starring Winona Ryder), Batman Returns, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Mars Attacks! (1996), and Big Fish. Badami also worked on several films for director Michael Bay: The Rock, Con Air (starring Colm Meaney), Armageddon (1998), Pearl Harbor, and Bad Boys II (2003).
In 1989, Badami was given a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for designing and developing the Streamline Scoring System, Mark IV, for motion picture music editing. He shared the award with fellow music editors Bill and Dick Bernstein.
