Robert Edward Vardeman (born 6 January 1947; age 78) (sometimes credited as Vardebob) is a fantasy, mystery, and science fiction writer who has also written a couple of Star Trek novels.

Vardeman was born in Palo Pinto, Texas, but has lived much of his life in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has degrees in physics and material sciences, and is the organizer of the Bubonicon, a science fiction convention in his home area.

He writes non-Trek material under at least eight pen names, notably Daniel Moran. He is prolific, having written over sixty novels.
