Robert Harper (19 May 195123 January 2020; age 68) was an actor who played Lathal Bine in the Star Trek: The Next Generation fourth season episode "The Host".

Harper filmed his scenes on Wednesday 13 March 1991 on Paramount Stage 8 but received no credit in the end credits of the episode.

His costume from this episode was later sold off on the It's A Wrap! sale and auction on eBay. [1](X)

Outside of Star Trek, he appeared in the television series L.A. Law, which featured Diana Muldaur, Murphy Brown, Law & Order, Roseanne, and Commander in Chief. Harper starred on Philly from 2001-2002 as Judge Irwin Hayes.

Harper also starred in some feature films. His first film role was in Mommie Dearest (1981); other roles were Creepshow (1982, with Adrienne Barbeau, Fritz Weaver, Jon Lormer, and Don Keefer), Dempsey (1983, with Sally Kellerman, Peter Mark Richman, Estee Chandler, John McLiam, Mark L. Taylor and Star Trek: First Contact stuntperson Jimmy Nickerson), Twins (1988, with Nehemiah Persoff, Tony Jay, Tom McCleister, Dendrie Taylor, Wayne Grace, and Cary-Hiroyuki), Gunmen (1994, with Patrick Stewart and Christopher Michael), Final Analysis (1992 with Harris Yulin, Erick Avari, George Murdock, and Jack Shearer), Deconstructing Harry (1997), The Insider (1999, with Bruce McGill, Vyto Ruginis, Joseph Hindy, and James Harper), and Molly (1999, with Brian George, Musetta Vander, Vinny Argiro, and Athena Massey).

Harper died of cancer on January 23, 2020. [2]
