Rodek was the persona of a male Klingon citizen of the Klingon Empire in the 24th century. It was given to Kurn, after having his memories erased. His father was Noggra, leader of the House of Noggra.

Kurn became dishonored from Worf's actions during the Klingon-Cardassian War in 2372. With no other recourse but suicide, he submitted to having his memory erased and assuming a new identity. Noggra, a friend of Mogh, agreed to take him as a son, giving him this identity. Doctor Julian Bashir assisted with changing his appearance.

Rodek was said to have been hit by a plasma discharge which damaged Noggra's shuttle and Rodek's hippocampus, causing his memories to be erased, possibly permanently, according to Bashir. Noggra promised to help the Klingon "re-learn" what he had "forgotten" about his life.

Seeing Worf nearby in Deep Space 9's infirmary, Rodek asked Worf who he was and if he was part of his family. Worf replied that he had no family, thereby preserving the deception. He proceeded to return with Noggra. (DS9: "Sons of Mogh")

Apocrypha[]

In the novel A Burning House, Rodek's memories began to return. The novel also states that the name Rodek was suggested by Jadzia Dax, after a former aide (β) to Kang, and a good grinnak (β) player, who had died in 2326.

Rodek appears in the game Star Trek Online as a General in the Klingon Defense Force, joining the player in battle against Tzenkethi forces. Following the mission to liberate Martok from his imprisonment at a Son'a facility in the Briar Patch, Rodek discovers the truth of his past. He chooses to return to his former identity and he and his mate B'irja take up residence on Deep Space 9 to continue assisting the Alliance against the Tzenkethi.
