A rose (Rosa rubrifolia) was a colorful and fragrant Earth flower that symbolized affection in Human tradition. (VOY: "Someone to Watch Over Me")

Henry Starling as of 1967 had a tattoo of a rose on his arm. (VOY: "Future's End")

An image depicting a white rose was contained in the library computer aboard the USS Enterprise in 2254. (TOS-R: "The Cage")

In 2266, Charles Evans brought a single pink rose to Yeoman Janice Rand in her quarters, when he was desperately trying to persuade her to love him. Since she reacted with shock and disapproval at his abrupt arrival there, he was surprised that the flower didn't please her, and asked her to confirm if pink was her favorite color, a question she ignored.
