Rudy Solari (21 December 1934 – 23 April 1991; age 56) was the actor who played Salish in the Star Trek: The Original Series third season episode "The Paradise Syndrome". He filmed his scenes between Thursday 13 June 1968 and Tuesday 18 June 1968 at Desilu Stage 10 and on location at the Franklin Reservoir.
Among the many other television series Solari has appeared on are Gunsmoke, The Outer Limits (with Ted Knight), The Big Valley, Mission: Impossible, Police Story, Police Squad and Quincy, M.E.. He also appeared in an episode of Mrs. Columbo, starring Star Trek: Voyager star Kate Mulgrew in the title role, and was also a regular player on The Wackiest Ship in the Army, along with Bill Zuckert. He also co-starred with Stanley Adams and Dean Stockwell in the TV movie Cop on the Beat in 1975. He acted as Casino in Garrison's Gorillas (1967-1968).
Solari made his film debut with a brief appearance in Judgment at Nuremberg (1961, featuring Joseph Bernard and Solari's Original Series co-star William Shatner. His last film appearance was a lead role in the 1978 drama The Boss' Son, co-starring James Darren.
Solari died of cancer in 1991 at the age of 56. A popular acting coach and theater director, Solari once had a theater named after him. It has since been renamed.
